Lake Country is not technically a place. You wouldn't be able to search "Lake Country, Wisconsin" in Google Maps and have it return a particular location. More accurately, it is a small region situated between the Milwaukee and Madison metropolitan areas that has many lakes scattered throughout the cities of Oconomowoc and Pewaukee and the many smaller towns and villages between the two. I spent my childhood summers at my grandmother's cottage on the shores of Lac La Belle, so it is a place that is near and dear to my heart. This was an assignment for an advanced cartographic design course, where we were tasked with creating a map to show the readers of an imaginary travel magazine how "three perfect days" could be spent in a location of our choosing. Because I am most familiar with the activities and places that are available and open during the summer months, this was the time of year I chose to focus on for my map.
