This was the final project I created for Intro to Cartography at UW-Madison; however, it was not just an assignment. I also designed it as a family history to note some of the places my grandma most remembers about her childhood home. As a Mother's Day gift for her, and in memory of her sister, I created this map so their childhood memories of the south side of Milwaukee will not be forgotten. It was made using ink pens and watercolors to created a vintage aethetic to go along with the childhood photo of the two Vogt sisters that I included in the map. I also took a great deal of artistic liberty with how I rendered their neighborhood: many buildings and places have been eliminated or re-oriented in order to allow their favorite places to rise to the forefront of the map.
